Cats can get along well with others

 Cats can get along well with others. It’s harder, though, when they are on the street because they have to fight for everything….food, shelter, protecting their life and/or the lives of any kittens that they might have nearby. So, when they happen upon another cat who they don’t know, they tend to not get along with them. You didn’t give a lot of details in your question, but this is what it sounds like to me. It can get aggravating, though, when two cats are fighting or even just yelling at each other when you’re trying to sleep. Maybe they will get on different schedules so that they aren’t accidentally coming across each other at the same time most nights. I wouldn’t hold my breath, though, since cats do love routines.
